Print PDF (firm letterhead)The first hours after detention often define the trajectory of the entire case. For a private client, the cost of error is measured not only in liberty but in reputation, family assets and the corporate perimeter.
Step one: insist on knowing the grounds and your rights. You are entitled to counsel from the moment of detention. Do not enter an informal conversation before your lawyer is present.
Step two: notify a trusted person — spouse, family-office manager, or standing counsel. The earlier the firm is engaged, the higher the chance of stopping procedural violations.
Step three: do not give statements or sign protocols you do not understand. A signature of acknowledgment is not the same as agreement — confusion here is expensive.
Step four: record names of officials, time, place, what was seized and who was present. These details underpin complaints, motions and later strategy.
Step five: contact the firm immediately. Urgent intake on the concierge line is prioritised — site, WhatsApp or Telegram.
